The Canadian Institute of Forestry, since 1908, has been the voice of forest practitioners in Canada. Members of the CIF are from government, industry and academia, and are joined into a single, national, professional organization.

CIF is comprised of 18 Sections distributed across Canada. The Rocky Mountain Section (RMS) is the home to CIF members from Alberta.  Its members have a long history in the Management, Research and Policy Development for the forests of Alberta and elsewhere. The RMS is among the largest Sections of the CIF in Canada. Check out our Mission Statement and Membership to learn more and Events page to find out what’s happening. Consider becoming a member of the CIF

One of our purposes is to foster partnerships and linkages with the professional and academic communities from which to provide value for membership. An example is a Memorandum of Understanding between the CIF-RMS and the Association of Alberta Forest Management Professionals where we will seek to jointly undertake activities such as technical sessions to support continuing competency, student co-operation and mentoring.
